Background of ISO 9001

ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard is reviewed every five years by the ISO Standards committee. The purpose of review is to ensure its relevance, suitability and effectiveness. At the recent review, a majority of the ISO committee members decided that ISO 9001:2008, the current standard for quality management requires updates. The new version is now expected to release by September 2015, replacing the 2008 version.
